Following her forced departure from Fourline, Natalie Barns has been aching to rejoin the struggle to overthrow its evil dictator. With Soris and those she left behind constantly on her mind, Nat bides her time, determined to find a cure for the duozi—those infected by the terrifying Nala.

An unexpected discovery propels her back to those she has sworn to protect, but her reappearance in Fourline is anything but straightforward, particularly when familiar faces appear when least expected. Despite the warnings of her friends and the looming threat of the vengeful Nala queen, Nat joins the fight in Fourline, both in her mind as well as on the field of battle. Her decisions may salvage Fourline’s future but at the risk of her own horrifying fate.

The Last Remnant The Fourline Trilogy Book 3 eBook Pam Brondos

I read the whole Fourline trilogy in about a weekend and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole series. The last installment picks up with Natalie trying to discover a cure for the duozi. She impulsively returns to Fourline, after everyone advises her it isn't safe and finds herself in trouble again. But this time her sister, Cal is with her. I was sort of dreading the storyline in this book when I found out Cal would be going with her because Cal was not one of my favorite characters. But she turned out to not be as annoying as I thought she would be. Many times I found myself skipping ahead to the moments between Nat and Soris and would then have to go back and read what I skipped. I enjoyed the progression of their romance through the stories and definitely found myself rooting for them to be together. The final installment ties up all the loose ends pretty satisfactorily while still leaving you wanting to know more about what happens next. I enjoyed Natalie's character in the series overall as well. She is strong, smart and stands up for what she thinks is right and also has many "real" moments that make her endearing. I think that she is a good female protagonist and is probably closer to (but not as good as) a Hermione-type character rather than to a Bella (Twilight) character.

Overall, I think that this is a fun series to read, with likable characters and it's fair share of action, suspense and romance.

The Last Remnant The Fourline Trilogy Book 3 eBook Pam Brondos Reviews

I enjoyed this bookl I did get a bit tired of Nat’s incessant anger. She also had a lot of “I know better than everyone else” attitude that lasted for a long time. But the story was good. I would tecommend this for anyone that enjoys fantasyecommend this for anyone that enjoys fantasy
Pam Broncos, if you're reading this I hope you are busy writing your next novel. This whole series pulled me in and kept me up late for several days in a row.

Sister Natalie is a wonderful lead character. Her courage is extraordinary, as is her willingness toward self sacrifice. She is truly an epic character.

I have always loved stories about a bridge between our world and a very different world. I suppose it began with my love for Narnia books all the way through Outlander.

I just can't recommend this series enough.

And Pam Broncos? I wasn't kidding. )
Thanks to NetGalley and Skyscape for the arc of The Last Remnant by Pam Brondos! This book finishes the Fourline trilogy perfectly! Nat discovers what causes the Nala venom to take over and change someone into a duozi, but she hasn't found a cure yet. So, she sends Annin to Fourline to see if Sister Ethet can use Nat's discovery to come up with a cure. Nat keeps experimenting and finds the cure. She's anxious to get to Fourline so she can share her findings, but has been told not to go for her own safety. Nat sneaks through the tunnel anyway and inadvertently lets her sister, Cal, slip through the tunnel also. Nat is captured and is injured and given a remnant from the Nalaide (the Nala queen). Nat is rescued and she travels with her friends and sister to a wisdom house where Nat hears about the prediction of a sister who will kill the Nalaide, ending the Nala. The prediction describes the markings on Nat's arm. Nat continues to fight the Nalaide in her dreams and tries to keep her and her sister safe. The struggle brings stress to everyone involved and closeness between Nat and Cal. This fantasy trilogy contains some romance, battles, suspense and mystery and I highly recommend it!
This third and final book was a satisfying conclusion to Natalie's adventures.

There were parts of the story and character development I really enjoyed and even a part or two that surprised me.

I also liked the focus of the story being brought back to Natalie's growth along with some added trials determining her relationship with Soris, Cal, and Fourline.

Another thing that was interesting to me was how Natalie has always been shown to embody multiple Sister qualities, such as her ability with plants and her moderating functions, though I'd say the max potential of this wasn't fully realized or utilized in the overall plotline, which is unfortunate.

However, I'm disappointed how heavily Brondos used telling over showing in her writing style, which was most present in this third book but also in the previous books. The book's audience is young, which may be why the writing is simple. Still, I also hold onto the hope for a lyrical quality to fantasy world based stories.

Overall, it's an interesting story that is cleanly organized and edited. If story and plot is your focus, you'll enjoy this trilogy, but don't expect complex language or particularly brilliant or mature characters. It's a light fantasy read to just sit back and enjoy.
The Last Remnant by Pam Brondos
I have to say I seriously enjoyed the last book of the Fourline series. I was waiting with baited breath for this to come out! Don't do that too often with a book. There were times I was laughing out loud and gasping in amazement!
We rejoin Natalie at the college after a period of time has passed. She is trying to create a cure for the duozi. She hasn't been allowed to go back to Fourline due to the Nalaide that is still trying to find her. The Chemist also has a price on her head.
Her sister Calpernia is also now at the college and still causing trouble for her older sister.
Estos and his sister, Emilia, in Fourline are setting up to take the crown.
Of course Annin, Andris, Soris and all are back.
They will all converge in varies ways throughout the book.
The book delves into a bunch of new relationships and connects characters you may not have thought of. You learn a bit more about them in the process.
I don't want to give too many spoilers away so I'm not going to go into much more. Suffice to say I'm sorry to see the end of the series.
Maybe we can hope they'll be back in a novella or two now and then. I mean, come on, we need to know how everything works out with everyone!
I can totally recommend this book. I would say though if you have read Gateway to Fourline or On The Meldon Plain you will probably be lost.
